Greg Ostergren, chairman, president and chief executive officer of American National Property and Casualty Company, and chairman of Farm Family Insurance Companies, has long supported the important research that IIHS does everyday. He currently also serves as chairman of the IIHS Board of Directors.
"The institute has been working for 50 years to help reduce injuries, deaths, and property damage on our nation's roads," Ostergren says. "It's a goal we all share and one to which IIHS's research has contributed a significant and positive impact. The IIHS has an incredible record of accomplishments, and safety on our nation's roads has come a long way. Per mile driven, 50 years ago there were ten times as many deaths on our nation's roadways than today. We still have a great deal of work to do to further improve safety. In the U.S. a vehicle death occurs on average of once every 12 minutes and a disabling injury once every 14 seconds."So how does an organization like IIHS celebrate an anniversary? By doing a crash test of course! However, this is not an ordinary crash test, view the video to see for yourself.
